A while back, I picked up some plain wooden letters from Joann’s for a little DIY Christmas project. I had the intention of doing something really fancy with them–covering them in glitter, wrapping them in burlap, or modge-podging scrapbook paper over them. But when it came right down to it, none of that sounded right.
I put them on the mantle plain and stood back, scratching my head.
Then, C built me a skinny little table for our entryway. He used a really pretty honey-colored stain for the top board, and he said I could have the leftovers.
Boom. Problem solved. I stained those wooden letters and popped them back on them mantle. It’s such a nice look! Rustic, yet clean and classy at the same time.
I love that the solution was so easy–sometimes the right look is the simplest one.
